Day 19- Colorado: AF Academy, Olympic Training Center
Hello again from the Happy group! We woke up at 5:30am to
Grant blaring “What Does the Fox Say?” and it definitely sped up our packing.
Then we hopped in the vehicles and headed to the great state of Colorado. For
breakfast, we had cereal, strawberries, Fruit by the Foot, and granola bars. We
then rode through some cowboy land in Wyoming while eating their breakfast. We
made a stop at our favorite place, Flying J, to fuel up. The cooks served us a
gourmet lunch of homemade Lunchables. We had crackers, cheese, ham, goldfish,
cupcakes, and grapes. The bus did a little bit more speed dating on the bus
right before we had a little pause at a weigh station.
After that, we headed to
the Air Force Academy. Sadly, no cadets were kissed, but cool gifts and photos
were taken. The chapel was absolutely beautiful! The Olympic Training Center
was ready for TWB when we stepped into the theater for a quick video showing
Olympic athletes and some footage of their sports. We got to tour the strength
and conditioning building, sports medicine building, and we even got to see
some of the male gymnasts practicing for their qualifiers tomorrow. Of course
we got to go to the gift shop. Sadly there were no clearance racks so it may
have broken some of our (parents’) banks.
While the cooks were getting dinner
ready, we practiced our dance to an Old Town Road remix a couple more times to
make sure they were perfect. WE GOT TO EAT DOMINOES PIZZA FOR DINNER. That is
the absolute definition of gourmet. Then it was time for us to show our stuff
in the gym of Colorado College, our campsite for the night. Our wonderful
counselors even showed what they had in their own dance routine. Tim was the
star of the show. Not to flex or anything but the Happys took the win. On to
the next stop, the BEST state in the nation, KANSAS. We’re so excited for the
oil and corn fields.
