Day 13-Yosemite

Day 13: Yosemit

Hey everybody!!! Sneezys here again to tell y’all about our fantastic bus ride through Yosemite. We woke up today in San Francisco at 5:00am to get on the road towards today’s destination. At 8:00am this morning we had to stop at the world famous Wal-Mart for our cooks and a tiny pit stop for the bus and van riders. Our cooks grabbed some yummy food for our next couple meals. After our trip we hoped on the vans and bus to get too our destination for today.

Once we were on the road again, we were served cereal in a cup. The choices were Frosted flakes, Honey Nut Cheerios, and Lucky Charms. This breakfast was very delicious! After breakfast, we listened to some tunes from DJ Tim to make our long drive easier. Some didn’t want a part in the music so they decided to catch some Z’s. Some may have been caught with their mouths open and of course pictures were taken. We made another pit stop so the vans could fill up for gas. Some of us took a bathroom break at CVS and others went to Jack in the box.

Once we loaded the bus/vans lunch was served. Today we had Turkey and Cheese wraps. They were delicious. For our sides we had carrots with ranch and potato chips. It wasn’t long after lunch that we were pulling into the entrance to Yosemite. Let us just say one word….TRAFFIC!!! It felt like we were there for hours. Out of no where, we here sirens and of course the ambulance had a hard time getting through because of our trailers attached to our vans.

Through the twist and turns of the mountains of Yosemite we finally we able to make our way out of the park, 5 hours later. Yosemite is such a popular destination for tourists from all around the world because it is just so beautiful. Right outside of the park, we discovered a snow outcrop. Our counselors had a fun time throwing snowballs at us. Fun pictures were taken, more snowballs were thrown, and many decided to find a nice tree to use the restroom behind. Once we were loaded onto the bus, we headed to our campsite down the hill from Yosemite, in Lee Vining, California.

While V was checking us in, everyone played on the playground and it brought back many childhood memories. V called everyone back onto the bus and vans and we drove just a little ways to our campsite. The bus packers then unpacked and dinner was being cooked. The cooks did a phenomenal job on our burrito bowls tonight (shout out to the Dopeys)!! A seagull decided it liked our burrito bowl too and took a few bites of Bailey Dulin’s!!! Belle takes the win for being pooped on. We ended the night with a nice sing-a-long where we sang our favorite tunes. Now, everyone is getting bundled up and ready to take on this cold night just right outside of Yosemite! We’re signing off for the night, but we will see you tomorrow as we travel into Salt Lake City!

Heather's van :) We got to take a lot of pictures with her camera today when driving through the park

It was a long drive, but these views made it worth it!

Time for a big SNOWBALL FIGHT IN YOSEMITE!!!

The Sneezy Group!! Your bloggers

This morning we were briefly awoken around 6:00 or so by a curious French bulldog who is owned by the secretary of Lakeside Presbyterian Church, where we are staying until tomorrow morning. This morning was an unusual morning for us; we got to sleep in just a little while longer! We were woken up at 7:00 which is huge for us!! Everyone packed up their things and prepared themselves for a day in the city. Once it was time to leave, we headed to the bus and vans. Its always fun to see who will be driving the vans after every stop and bathroom break.

Our first stop was the Cliff House, where we took a short walk down to a beautiful cave where we saw the ocean and the rocks collide. It was so pretty!! Of course Heather made us pose for a group picture!!! After the picture, some of the campers raced to the top of the hill (congrats to Drew for winning, of course!). After our stop, we were ready to head into the city. The drive into the city consisted of going up and down a lot of hills. There were many, many, many red lights and stop signs that were unexpected. Then on top of all of that we got a little bit lost, thanks Peyton. When we arrived in the city we walked down the streets of San Fran to the Fisherman Wharf where we walked to the pier right next to pier 39 (where you can see, and hear, the sea lions).

We took another group photo and stated today’s presentations. Annabelle Pearson with the golden gate bridge, Jackson Payne with pier 39, Zach Cline with San Francisco, Kathryn Anthony with Lombard Street, Samantha Valor with China Town, and Emma Hughlett with San Francisco. After learning about the places we visited today we took small group pictures, our group looked the best of course.

After Heather's endless pictures for the blog, everyone broke from the large group and went off to do their own things. Whether it consisted of walking down Pier 39, going to eat at In-and-Out, buying cat shirts, or finding the nearest bathroom every five minutes (sorry guys) we took on the city of San Francisco. After a long day of walking we all settled down around 4:00pm for a family dinner at the Far East Café. Our dinner consisted of: fried rice, egg rolls, orange chicken, lo mein, beef and broccoli, hot tea, and strangely accurate fortune cookies. We ended our amazing dinner around 5:00 and had an hour to walk around China Town until we had to meet at the bus and vans at 6:00. In that hour most of us went to a great desert shops where you made your own ice cream sandwich.

Most of us arrived right on time to leave, except for three, who ten minutes later we saw sprinting down the street of San Francisco panting claiming that they got “lost”. After zooming off of the streets of San Francisco we finally arrived at the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge. We piled at the bottom of the bridge to take a group picture and then we began our walk (1.7 miles) across the bridge. The view was amazing along with our luck when it came to the weather; there was almost no cloud coverage so we could see everything. When the beautiful walk came to an end we made our way back to the church to get ready for bed. Most of us took hectic two minute showers at the YMCA, that were much needed, and got everything ready for tomorrow. Now we are settling down for bed, by writing, laying down, or just talking with everyone and preparing for the new adventure that awaits for us tomorrow...Yosemite National Park.

Hiking down to see the pacific coast waters rushing against the rocks.

I don't know which is better, this view or all my friends!
