Day 8: Santa Monica

Hey hey America! It’s the Sleepy Squad here to give you the run down of all the stuff that happened today. Our group is made up of Jackson Payne, Taylor Bostic, Kali Morton, Kaylee Jackson, Annabelle Pearson, Lauren Simpson, Meghan Carroll, Bailey Dulin, Mary McCraw, Jordan Laschinski, Adolyn Rankin, Zach Cline, and Blake Teague.

This morning we arrived in shady Santa Monica at 6:30am after an all night drive from Sin City. Some of us were sleeping in some very uncomfortable positions on the bus, while some of us just sprawled out on the floor. Right when we reached the Santa Monica pier, the Bashfuls began working on our scrumptious meal. We enjoyed some French toast with sausage and watermelon, along with Apple Juice and Orange Juice.

After breakfast everyone dispersed to go explore Santa Monica while we waited for the pier to open at 11:00. Some of us went to check out the mall that was right down the street from the pier and others went to McDonalds to get an extra bite of breakfast. Others went to a strip where they found a beloved Apple store and facetimed their loved ones back home. Lunchtime came by fast and there were a lot of choices to pick. Some of us went to lunch at the pier and tried burgers, fries, hot dogs, and ice-cold slushies. Others went to get a warm pretzel and some of us went to Steak and Shake to get a good cooked meal.

As we all rounded back to the pier, everything started to come to life as more locals and tourist showed up to see the famous rides on the pier. On the pier there were street performers like magicians, musicians, and some of the locals were dressed like they were street performers. All the rides were fun and everyone enjoyed them! When we got done riding rides, shopping for souvenirs, and just hanging out we went down to the Santa Monica beach to step our feet in the Pacific ocean. Words cannot explain how cold the water was! Some of us step our feet in and said “There we go, I went in the Pacific Ocean” while others dived right in and faced the freezing cold water. Everyone met at the bus and the vans at 2:45pm so we could head on out to Anaheim, California, where we set up our camping gear at a campground next to the freeway. Which means some of us aren’t going to get a good sleep tonight! When we arrived everyone gathered in their groups to work on tonight’s challenge of creating a chant about the whole trip and our groups. The Bashful's decided that tonight’s meal was going to be none other than chicken tacos, chips and salsa, cookies, and cupcakes. We got cupcakes because it is a very special day! Today we celebrate Kathryn Anthony 16^th birthday!!!

As we all finish eating our delicious meal we begin the competition. Everyone did great with their chant but in the end the Bashful's took the prize as best chant! But the surprises didn't stop there because the biggest surprise was coming in a hour or 2. While everyone was asleep and getting their rest, out of no where it begins to rain down water. To our surprise the sprinklers were never turned off so we all had a great shower in the middle of the night! Everyone is fine and a little wet but we all laughed about it and went back to sleep.
