Day 11- Highway 1

Day 11: Highway 1

Hey hey America it’s the Sleepy’s again! Today marked the halfway point of our trip. We are now Teens Eastward Bound. Today we woke up bright and early at El Capitan beach. We started to drive towards Ragged Point and Monterey, California. After a quick stop at Walmart we had a delicious breakfast. For this breakfast we had yogurt, granola bars, and apples. After breakfast we watched one of the most beautiful, gorgeous, and breathtaking drives down Highway 1.

We stopped along Highway 1 to get out, use the bathroom, and take beautiful pictures at Ragged Point. It was such a beautiful view, and gas was almost $6!! Soon we reached the famous TWB Rock. Our entire group dismounted and we sat on the cliffs and reflected on the paths that brought us to this day on the trip. Some of us spoke on some things we wanted to get off our chest and share with our new family, and some of us just sat and got a little sunburnt. We then sang one last song together and hugged it out before heading back down the scenic Highway 1 to eat lunch. It consisted of peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwiches with animal crackers and chocolate chip cookies. Many of us fell right back asleep after stuffing our faces before arriving in Monterey, California. We got about 40 minutes to walk around town and shop.

Then, we hopped right back on the road once again to the diverse city San Francisco. After driving for about a couple hours full of naps and singing yet again, it was time for dinner right around 6. We had subs, applesauce, carrots with ranch, and sugar cookies for dessert. Two hours later, we arrived at our destination in San Francisco. We pulled into Lakeside Presbyterian Church, where we will be camping inside for the next 2 days. We have to stay inside in San Francisco because of all the fog, we would wake up wet, and we can already check that off our bucket list, no need to do that again, haha!

Our hosts, Penny and Jerry welcomed us with open arms and we quickly brought in our stuff to sleep tonight. We then learned about the city and our hosts that brought us in for tonight. Everyone got to their jobs soon after. Then, people started to line up for showers at the YMCA, a right of passage on TWB, if you know, you know (lol) and gather their laundry in groups to be washed soon. Everyone will be getting ready for our adventurous day in San Francisco tomorrow as we walk the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf and the Cliff House. Signing off, the Sleepy Squad.
